The beach is a many splendid place. The sun, the surf, the sand. Family gatherings, and wonderful memories can be made in the summer nights and days on any beach. But horror can also lie in these paradise settings. And this horror is showcased in James Patterson's newest stand alone thriller, Swimsuit.
Kim McDaniels is the exemplification of both beauty and brains. Going to college to be a doctor, she models on the side, and does a damn good job at both. But one night, while on location for a shoot in Hawaii, she vanishes, without a trace. Hours after her abduction, her parents get a terrifying phone call. Fearing the worse, they fly down to Maui to hunt for their only daughter.
Ex-cop Ben Hawkins, now working the crime beat for the LA Times , is assigned the case. Soon he's in Hawaii, following the media circus that comes along with a case like this. But as he gets closer to the McDaniels, he becomes a target of a killer unlike any other. His games are twisted, his mind warped, and the audience he plays to is more than willing to see the horror he creates. Hawkins must unravel the mystery, and wind up with the biggest story of his career, or become the story himself
The book was taunt with suspense and intrigue. It’s incredible how Patterson can shift focus from a singular crime to it becoming a broader, more horrific field of play. The teaser doesn't like when it says this is "The scariest and most satisfying James Patterson novel since Kiss The Girls . With paradise as the setting, a determined protagonist, and a demented and wonderfully sickening villain, Swimsuit is sure to be a hit. I'll also make you remember to watch out wherever you are. Because even paradise can be deceiving. Highly recommended.
