Profile Information

About You:
James Patterson is a true inspiration for me as a writer. I am the author of the Deadly Sports Mysteries. My first book in the series, Sudden Death was endorsed by James Patterson and Clive Cussler. These endorsements helped convince Marc Entertainment to pick up the TV options for my series. We are currently working on the TV treatment.

"You like golf, you like murder mysteries--then Sudden Death is your book!" James Patterson

" Pure fun, pure intrigue. The action never stops till a fascinating climax!" Clive Cussler

New endorsement for Dead Ball -"Listen up, sports and mystery fans! Buy Michael Balkind's DEAD BALL right now. Remember “Bo Knows Sports”? They should update it to “Balkind knows sports (and mysteries, too).” John Lescroart

Stealing Gold - is in the works.

The Fix - (co-authored with ESPN Anchor, Ryan Burr is being edited)

A Great Reason To Write

When I began my first novel there were a few things that compelled me. Not fame, not fortune, although, of course, the hope for those lies eternal within me.

The reason I started to write was that I was in a dark place in my life at the time and writing was very cathartic. I had always wanted to write a novel and all of a sudden I had the time to do it. One must do something while awake at all hours of the night. I wrote about my issues and although I will eventually publish that story, as I wa… Continue

A Novelist's point of View

I’m not sure if Mr. Patterson has this problem, but I certainly do. Actually, the word “problem” might not be accurate. Maybe it’s more like I just see everyday things differently now that I am a published author. Life used to pass me by, as it probably does for others, with some laughs and cries, some goods and bads, some happys and sads. But now it’s all different, not that I live differently, just that I see things differently.
Everything I see now is a potential scene for a current or future… Continue

Juggling Time as a Writer

As a writer, I am astonished with the amount of projects Mr. Patterson can handle simultaneously. He is like a one man publishing industry. He writes, edits, and markets much more than any other author, and he still finds the time for family and things like golf. I wouldn’t think there was enough time in the day to get all that done. Yet, when I asked him to review an advance copy of my first novel, Sudden Death, he graciously said yes. Then within a few weeks, I received his cover blurb in the… Continue

Hey Michael. I read the first chapter of Sudden Death & I am looking forward to reading the rest! It has me hooked already. I love books that instantly hook me in. It's a good escape from all the Chemistry & Psychology I read for school. The fact that I find time to read all these books is actually a miracle. Thanks for telling me to go read it!

Hi Micheal, thanks for the advice. I have read the first chapter of Sudden Death, and now I will have to go out and buy the book! I didn't read Dead Ball as it says it will spoil the ending of Sudden Death. Any advice on good reading material is gratefully received, I love to get lost in a good book, the suspense and the way James Patterson writes is really appealing to me.
