About You:
My name is Christian Burch, I'm 20 and a junior in college studying to be an elementary school teacher and I'm a writer. I started reading when I was three and haven't stopped yet!! My first book/short story "Speeder" is now published and available at Barnes and Noble online, I've used the pseudonym C.A. Burch (there was already a Christian Burch) and I'm working on my next book now.
What is your favorite James Patterson book?
Honestly I can't just choose one, I have thoroughly enjoyed each one I have read so it would be unfair to pick only one!
How many Patterson's have you read?
I'm an Alex Cross aficionado., Whatever I can get my hands on!
Why are you here?
Reading groups and gab., What do you know? I'm a writer myself., Any friend of James is a friend of mine!

Submitting short stories

I'm currently working on a novel but at the same time I've written several short stories and I'm looking for an outlet to publish them. I've looked at WritersDigest and it's great, I'm going to send some in to their contests but I was wondering if anyone knew of any magazines currently accpeting story submissions?

Sudden Death by Michael Balkind

I was pleasantly surprised to read a refreshing thriller/mystery story. The action and suspense is nonstop from page one to finish. After I finished it, I went out and purchased Dead Ball and wasn't dissapointed their either. Michael Balkind is an amazing author whose writing style is fresh and characters are believable. Christian,
Thanks so much for the great blog post. Telling the JP Community about my books is about the best support you can provide. Maybe you'll do the same on amazon when you get the chance? Posting amazon reviews is pretty easy and it helps new authors a lot.

BTW- my publisher asked if you would give permission for them to reprint your blog post. If so, please just send me a note saying so to; mbalkind@hotmail.com

Marc entertainment gave me a deadline to finish writing the TV script for the pilot of the Deadly Sports Television series and my publisher is hounding me to finish the manuscript for Stealing Gold, the next novel in the series. Good problems to have but they don't leave much time for anything else.

I will be happy to help when you finish a full length novel MS, but I can't offer much with short stories. Sorry! Maybe you should try the writers digest short story contest.

Enjoy your Sunday.

I'm ready to read whenever you're done with your MS.
If you get a moment maybe you'll write a quick review of Sudden Death and post on this site (in a blog) and on amazon.com??
How many books in the series, you ask. How many sports are there?

H Christian,
Thanks for reading Sudden Death. I hope you enjoyed it. I guess you did if your planning to read Dead Ball too. (unless your just being nice to me. And in that case, thanks too)

As for agents and publishing. At the moment I am agent-less. I let mine go after my first novel because, well, she wasn't really doing anything.
I have a multi book contract with my publisher and I'm very happy with them. I am currently working on the script for the potential TV pilot of my series. (My publisher helped get the options picked up by Marc Entertainment of L.A.)
I have helped 3 other writers get contracts with them. When you finish writing and polishing your manuscript I would be happy to take a look at it and if I like it, I will recommend it to my publisher. That doesn't mean they will accept it, but it does mean it will get a serious and quick read.

If you are interested, send me an email to mbalkind@hotmail.com and we can discuss it further.

Good luck with Speeder. when you are ready for the next step, let me know. I have recently helped a few other writers get published with my publisher. I am kind of an agenting for them. I'd be happy to discuss it with you.

Hi,
Welcome to the James Patterson Community. You will find many fans here who enjoy discussing his books. I am an author who was lucky enough to get Mr. Patterson’s endorsement on my novel, Sudden Death. I also write an occasional blog on this site. Please drop by my page to say hello and maybe visit my website to win a contest to be Named in my next Novel or win an autographed NFL football, and maybe, while you’re there, you’ll read my first chapter.
