I just began the 'Women's Murder Club Series again I think these are the more complex of all of his later writings, more so than even the Cross series, until 'Cross Country' and perhaps, 'I Cross'.
Mr. Patterson has definitely upped the ante when it comes to creating "edge of the seat" action; he often leaves no clue, subtle or otherwise to help you glean what's coming next. Even though I read the first of the WMC's books before I found myself surprised at some of the twists and turns, because they weren't the person or the most logical at that point. Great literature isn't like math, there are no proofs.

After giving this some thought; Just back from vacation, and the books I had in Augusta, are not as current, so I reread some authors that I hadn't read in awhile.
I heartily suggest that you scour used book stores, Public Libraries, etc. and start with JP's very first ones. Patterson is an amazing writer, who grows with his characters. With each successive book each person he creates gets fleshed out more and more. This is true of the Cross series, WMC and MAX.
So if you star with his 1st you become more invested in each character. While it's true you can pick up any of his books and JP, just as any truly successful 'serial' writer will do gives you enough of the back story so you don't feel lost.
You will get a much better sense of the character going through each event; ie
"living it" if youwill, than just having a small picture of that life, and those events.
A list of all JP's Books are just inside to act as a guide, all the best.

I've read almost everything that James Patterson has written, some of his other works such as Breakfast At Tiffani's or, Lifeguard and Beach House, or even Miracle on the 17th Green and, the Midnight Club.
These novels in different styles and genres show just how talented a writer JP is, all of his stories are not only believable, his characters are also. You find yourself almost immediately identifying with the main character, and turning the pages long into the night.

I think one of the books that I thought was really well written and should be made into a movie is Honeymoon. I think JP normally does an excellent job in creating characters that are realistic and believable but with this particular book, he showed clearly that characters are not only portrayed successfully in movies but also in books. Highly recommended, wonderful entertaining read.

I love all the WMC Books, but my favorite is "3rd Degree". About halfway through it I told my family not to talk to me the rest of the day, cause I wanted to finish it so bad. I finished it in one day.
For those who don't know yet, I have blogs on my homepage that list different authors and their books. I think most all the community knows about them, but if you don't then feel free to check them out.

I loved the Quickie. It is definitely one of my favorites. And I just finished You've been warned. It's definitely a conversation starter.
