The first book I read was the alex cross novel "Along came a spider" around 9 years ago and have read every JP book I can get my hands on since.

Me too, i just love his books and they get better and better each time. Can't wait for the other 3 to be released so i can get my hands on them. Really looking forward to Alex Cross being in Africa :)

When I started reading JP, I usually set non-Alex books aside for later, then I read the Beach House, and changed my mind, I realized that though I really like Alex, it was the writer who made the book, not the character.

I think my first read was Along Came a Spider around 1994 and I have been hooked since. I like to read them in order and most times get the newest book as soon as it comes out. I won't read them out of order. I guess I'm anal like that. The one I've had a hard time finishing is 'Season of the Machete'. I am determined to read his books from the 70s too because to be a true fan, you must read just about EVERYTHING. The only thing that gets me upset sometime is that he pumps them out so fast that it's hard to keep up & give other authors time and attention too. I wonder where he gets it from. I've seen him in an interview and he seems son gentle and mild-mannered.

Ha!
I read the books out of sequence. Jack and Jill, Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, Cat and Mouse, Double Cross, The Big Bad Wolf, London Bridges, Four Blind Mice, Pop Goes The Weasel, Roses are Red, Mary Mary, Cross, and Violets are Blue. So I knew about the secret of Kyle Craig before 'the big reveal'.

I guess I'm just crazy that way.

I found James Patterson's book Maximum Ride in a school book fair. The cover caught my attention and then read the back. I got it for the kids and they didn't even look at it, so I started to read it, that got them curious. I loved the book and so did they.

Oh cool. That's so great when you read the same book with your kids. I hear a lot of stuff like that about the Max books. I was actually hanging out with some of my guy friends the other day and one of the guys when he found out I work for Patterson pulled me aside and was like, "I have to tell you. I'm SO addicted to Maximum Ride." The funny thing is he's this big tall guy with huge muscles. So, I guess Max really does appeal to everyone.

I began with the 5th Horseman (a Women's Murder Club novel) and that was all it took. After completing that novel, I purchased all the prior books in the series to get caught up to speed. I began listening to other JP novels as audiobooks. They have all been fantastic!

Audio books are great, Mellang, folks give you funny looks on the bus, and wonder what you are up to. I especially like to listen when I am home alone because I can do other things while I listen, and still enjoy the story with the volume turn WAY UP!

My first JP novel was Four Blind Mice. I liked everything about that book -- "grab you" theme, short chapters, can't-put-it-down twists and turns and great ending. After that, I went online and found a list of everything he'd written so far and simply dived in. Now, the minute James announces a new book's release date, I'm there waiting.

I just finished four blind Mice and then I started on Honeymoon and as usual it is fantastic. Now I'm reading the beach road and looking forward to his new book.
