I was posed with an interesting question by a fellow member. Did I have any good Young Adult reading selections besides the "Twilight" or "Maximum Ride" series? Well, honestly, I didn't. But then I remembered an older book that was pretty big in 6th grade (at least popular by everyone I knew). It was called "Among the Hidden". The author is Margaret Peterson Haddix. I didn't realize, from looking her up, that she had written so much. Her novels definitely are geared towards kids and young teens,… Continue

How ironic, I yust finished reading the new copy of Exposed by Alex Kava (A friend brought it for me from overseas) when this morning a story broke about two Zambians and two South Africans who died after being or coming into contact with a female in Zambia. Very little is know apart from the fact that the disease manifests as flu and then kills. A sample was sent to Atlanta inthe USA for a diagnosis. It is known it is airborne . . . very little else. Detective Maggie O'Dell, I have sympathy wi… Continue

Most good mysteries make you hungry for more. But Diane Mott Davidson makes you hungry for food. That'd because her main character Goldy, a caterer/amateur sleuth, serves up murder with a side of delicious recipies. It may be hard to finish a Diane Mott Davidson book fast, as I'd continually stop to try and make whatever tasty treat caught my eye. But among all the food is a good storyteller, a fun character, and a great series of novels. Goldy Bear 1. Catering to Nobody (1990) 2. Dying for Cho… Continue

It's a good thing I finally got caught up on all my Sisterhood reviews, because I just finished "Fast Track", the 10th book featuring Fern Michaels feisty vigilantes. This book is a first in the series, as it is the first time the Sisterhood receives money for their "unique" talents. During the middle of a fierce storm, a helicopter lands on Big Pine Mountain, the new home of the Sisterhood. Not waiting to get ambushed, the Sisters rush out to meet their visitors. They turn out to be the girls… Continue

Who here doesn't know of Stephen King? If you said yes, then you need to leave now and sit in a corner quietly. Because Stephen King is one of the biggest novelists of all time, and I'd wager the biggest thriller writer of our time. He, more than likely, has had more of his novels and short stories translated onto the big and small screen more than any other author in modern history. Just look at this list, and you'll probably have seen one or more of them: 1976 Carrie 1980 The Shining 1983 Cujo… Continue

I would love to talk to anyone whose favorite Patterson books are the Alex Cross series and find out what other books you read while waiting for a new Cross book to be published. I read Patricial Cornwell sometimes as well.
